ecuador: la fiesta país.

ay carumba.  uno mes en ecuador!  pero, ella es muy hermoso y mi tiempo era bueno.

otavalo
just a couple of hours outside of quito, otavalo is famous for its volcanoes and its markets.  here the indigenous people come dressed in traditional garb to sell you souvenirs.   beautiful and cold, here i stayed in a valley just below the crater lake la luna.

rolling hils.

hostel owners daughter.  half british half ecuadorian.

the walk into town.

i should've just stole one to ride it down the road.

town square as you will see many of in the future.

hostel la luna.

guyaquil
near the southwest corner of ecuador, most backpackers avoid guyaquil because they hate the rush of this modern city.  this city is a great jumping point for the galapagos islands.

parque de iguanas.

last of the dinos.

regal.

town square... yawn.

iguanas.  iguanas everywhere.

shmur.

piggy backs.

malecon 2000.

isla del plata
also known as the 'galapagos for the poor man'.  indeed it was.  you don't see much.  but still fun.

abandoned beach.

mogli from jungle book?  anyone?

SWAG.

he asked, 'why do you want to take a picture of me?'
'why not?'

boobies!

kinda weird they just hang out on a rock and poop.

what animal do you see in the rock? 10000 points to you if you guessed a gorilla.

fried fish.

montañita
you come here for two things: surfing and partying.  i can say that i did a bit of both.  but i would have to say i spent most of my time soaking up the sun and eating ceviche.

indeed.

ceviche.  lime marinated seafood.  mmm.

the most south american picture EVER.

this dog had a no playing soccer policy.

they are born with salsa in their blood.

ceviche man.

isreali friend.

vilcabamba
there is something about vilcabamba.  it is serene and beautiful.  here i stayed in a wonder french owned hostel that had the best breakfast ever!  here you could go on lovely hikes and experience all of the flora and fauna.  the only thing that was strange about vilcabamba was the colony of retired americans that dwell here.

aww.

muddy walks.

don't want this near me.

ariana!

don't eat that!

indiana jones near death experience.

dios mio!  this job is hard!

el cajas national park
another planet it seemed like.  with hundreds of melted glacier lakes, this ever wetland was as magical as it was cold.

ariana the photog.

i'm cold and unprepared! yay!

paper trees.

cuenca
sprinkled with tons of historical buildings, cuenca was a beautiful city and a UNESCO world heritage site.  the arts and culture were prevalent here, but it wasn't enough to keep me interested...
clearly cause i only took 3 pictures and they are with a dog haha.

me llamo thomas.

baños de agua santa
known for its hot springs, banos is a hot spot for tourists all over ecuador.  backpackers flock here because of all the fun extreme things you can do.  from bridge jumping to white water rafting.  banos is a difficult place to get bored in.

sketchiest cable car.

i dunno, you're supposed to be able to see jesus' face in the rock.

macaw.

quito
the capital of ecuador and the second highest capital in south america.  the food was delicious, the people were kind, and the night life was so good.  i would recommend quito to anyone.  but, watch your pockets...

the equator.

the aussie ladies and i.

semana santa parade.  (or easter to us.)

he is thinking.  what the ih!
