veronica in vietnam.

after 10 days, 6 cities, and probably over 1000 km later, can i truly say that i am well-travelled and a little more street smart.

the mekong delta
known for its floating markets and sustaining most of the population with rice production, this place is a must for anyone traveling in the south of vietnam.

people spend their whole lives here selling goods on their boats.

snake wine = not delicious.

our trusty skipper.

on the river through the lush vegetation.

a traditional tourist boat. ha.

we stopped off in can tho, and wandered one of the many markets that i have wandered.

chiliiissss.

i dunno. some asian fruit that looks and tastes like lychee.

"hey, take a picture."

i suppose this is what i will look like in due time.

waiting for customers.

also waiting for customers.

don't eat me? ...... awkward.

this picture warms my heart. makes me miss home a little.

nha trang
the country's premiere beach city.

a night market with lots of jewelry and other things that only tourists would buy.

lobstah.

the 'floating bar'.

999. (vietnamese lucky numbers)

the south china sea.

the longest over sea cable car in the world.

between the islands.

hoi an
an UNESCO world heritage site, this city was so distinct in character and almost made me feel like i was living on a movie set. by far this was my favourite city.

popular wood carvings.

romancing.

lantern shop. obviously.

the stereotypical asian lantern shot.

guarding the art.

tea for two. in my single room.

"i do good monkey kung fu." - tour guide
photo cred: dude at the vender booth.

dude at the vender booth. we are tight.

hué
the political capital. it holds vietnam's imperial city.

the family that offered me refuge from the sun.
her name is ling.

so cute.

makin' jokes with the locals.

teens.

how many people that you know this old can still squat like this?

some monument. was too sunstroked to find out what it was.

whatchu lookin' at?

i can't believe i rode a bicycle for 5 hours in motorbike madness.

indiana jones-esque screen shot?

she saw me point my camera and posed for me haha.

cocoNUTS!

i like texture and food. alot.

put da lime in coconut...

really hot chilis. i do not recommend.

haha. his best smile.

i guess all asians do know karate.

hanoi
the country's capital city. home of ho chi minh's resting place. i mean literally... you can see him resting in a glass case in the ho chi minh mausoleum. don't worry no pictures were taken.

the turtle tower in the middle of hoan kiem lake.
if you get up early enough, you can see the early risers of hanoi doing tai chi by the lake.

tis a popular spot for lovers.

the only bad part of my trip was coming home to find out that my land lady accidentally locked me out of my apartment. totally shafted. so i fell asleep on the concrete welcome mat i have in front of my door. i am that classy.

until next time.
